11th Forum ITALIA SOLARE 2026

PV enters a new era: storage, self-consumption, grid, and competitiveness-

The 11th ITALIA SOLARE SolarForum takes place at a strategic juncture for both the Association and the entire photovoltaic sector. 2027 will be a decisive year for the implementation of the European Market Design and EPBD directives, the evolution of national regulation on energy sharing and supply contracts, new grid connection regulations, and the management of network congestion.

Photovoltaics is entering a new phase where it can no longer be considered in isolation from storage systems, flexibility, self-consumption, energy efficiency, and the electrification of consumption.

In the residential segment, PV, batteries, heat pumps, thermal storage, and electric mobility can transform the home into an active node of the energy system. In the C&I (Commercial and Industrial) segment, integrating PV, storage, flexibility, innovative contracts, and energy sharing becomes an essential lever to lower energy bills, manage loads, boost business competitiveness, and overcome the limitations currently hindering storage deployment.

Furthermore, completing the process to identify suitable areas will guide location choices for utility-scale grid-connected plants, increasing the relevance of project quality, public acceptance, streamlined permitting, agrivoltaics, floating PV, and integration with storage systems.

SolarForum 2026 therefore aims to position ITALIA SOLARE as an organization capable of representing a comprehensive vision of the new solar system: a system built on renewable generation, storage, self-consumption, flexibility, security, industrial competitiveness, and full integration with the power grid.

Day 1 | November 30, 2026

Registration and welcome coffee

14:30

Opening Session

Solar PV, energy storage, and flexibility at the core of the transition
Solar PV, along with storage, is becoming a critical infrastructure of the new energy system: not just renewable production, but security, flexibility, competitiveness, and energy autonomy.
The opening session will frame SolarForum 2026 within the context of the energy transition, energy security, and the climate crisis, highlighting the new role of solar and storage systems in building the energy system of the future.
16:00

Session 1

European industry, technological security, and new regulations for PV and storage
This session will be dedicated to the key topics currently at the center of the European debate: the Net-Zero Industry Act, the Industrial Accelerator Act, cybersecurity, and restrictions on technologies from countries considered high-risk.
The objective is to understand how the new European industrial policy, energy technology security requirements (cybersecurity), and the evolution of supply chains will impact the development of solar PV and storage systems.

Session 2

Grid capacity, congestions, and new flexible loads

This session is dedicated to the optimal management of power grid capacity and congestion prevention, which are key enablers for the growth of solar PV and storage.

The focus is on the power system’s ability to better integrate renewable generation through flexibility, demand response, distributed and utility-scale storage, and load aggregation. Dynamic demand management is becoming essential to reduce congestion, maximize the value of solar energy, and improve coordination among generation, consumption, and the grid—also in view of the widespread adoption of electric vehicles.

The session will also delve into the role of distribution system operators (DSOs) in managing flexibility at the local level to prevent congestion and support the growth of solar PV and storage.

18:20

Associations Session

Integrating skills in the new phase of the energy transition

A discussion session among energy and renewable sector associations on common priorities for 2027, with a specific focus on solar PV, storage, flexibility, competitiveness, simplification, and market development.

19:00

Closing of Day 1

20:00

Networking dinner for association members only

A dedicated moment for the association community to share ITALIA SOLARE’s new strategic positioning.

session 3

Residential: electric homes, storage, heat pumps, and energy bills
This session is dedicated to the residential segment, with the objective of maximizing the value of solar PV and storage in reducing energy bills and electrifying household consumption.
The focus is on the integration of solar PV, batteries, heat pumps, thermal storage, electric vehicle charging, energy efficiency, and the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD – “Green Homes” Directive).
The session highlights future business models for families, condominiums, and multi-family homes, taking into account existing support mechanisms, such as Renewable Energy Communities (CACER), and expected future frameworks. During the session, ITALIA SOLARE’s proposal for a guarantee fund to facilitate access to investments will also be highlighted.
11:00

session 4

C&I: Self-consumption and storage solutions for business competitiveness
This session is dedicated to business models for the commercial and industrial segment, with a specific focus on SMEs, manufacturing, logistics, large-scale retail, energy-intensive services, and data centers.
The session addresses the factors limiting the deployment of solar PV systems and storage within enterprises, analyzing the elements that impact business models: consumption profiles, system sizing, the value of self-consumption, peak management, flexibility services, long-term contracts, access to credit, CAPEX, OPEX, and payback periods.
The session delves into how to offer self-consumption and energy-sharing solutions to strengthen business competitiveness.
12:15

session 5

Market Design, energy sharing, and new contract regulations
This session is dedicated to the regulatory frameworks currently under development, with a specific focus on the implementation of the Market Design Directive and the ARERA 223/2026/R/eel proceeding concerning electricity supply and energy-sharing contracts.
The objective is to analyze how the new regulatory framework will impact self-consumption models, energy sharing, supply contracts, PPAs, and the opportunity for households, businesses, and energy communities to maximize the efficiency and value of energy produced from renewable sources.
The focus is on how regulation can enable new market models, reduce administrative and contractual barriers, increase the value of renewable energy, and make self-consumption more accessible across different market segments.
